The project that started as an experiment is gradually moving towards to embed the positive insights in
government’s program. The evolved model of Locality Development Compact of PRI-CBO-Local
Administration is the foundation for localization.
Last year team’s focus was on empowering the Gram Sabhas in all the 732 villages. This was done
through sensitizing the community members through rallies, ward-level meetings to establish the role of
Gram Sabha, reviewing plans prepared by the GS members, regularization of Gram Sabhas with more
than 50% women participation. The highlight was that in 250 villages women participants outnumbered
their male members in Gram Sabhas, considered as a traditional male bastion.
Another focus during the year was on orienting the active members of CBOs for participating in the
upcoming Panchayat elections. Disaster Management Committee (DMC) was also formed at Gram
Panchayat level and it played a crucial role in the fight against the pandemic. It supported various field
functionaries - AAA, Patwaris, teachers etc. by COVID appropriate behaviors at GP b) fighting the
pandemic by supporting the community with health, ration, relief schemes c) maintaining isolation
centres at village level d) safety of frontline workers.
