Significance and Importance of Village Level Disaster Management Committee
(PRI-CBO-FLW Joint Efforts)
Bobalwadi village in MP recently formed the Disaster Management Committee after the COVID outbbreak
which effected the entire rural life in the country, it was Madhya Pradesh state government initiative to
decentralise governance in times like pandemics and disasters. The committee came into the existence on
30th June 2021 under the ongoing efforts at Rajpur for Strengthening Local Governance for
Multidimensional Change.
Once the committee came in full force they made sure:
Debunking myths and misconceptions on COVID 19 in their village.
Household visits to explains them the benefits of the vaccination and tried to answer all their queries
regarding the same.
Making sure that everyone in village get vaccinated. Following are the steps they followed to do so:
The committee members went to all the houses to invite people with yellow rice. Also, helped in
bringing the people to the vaccination site.
Arrangements for water and tents were made at the site by the Panchayat so that people should
not have any problems with anything.
To maintain physical distancing, the markings of circles were made by the committee members.
The day before everyone was worried about how we’ll be able to achieve the target, but with the efforts of
all the members of the disaster management committee and facilitation by the local youth group as well,
the village was able to achieve 120% of the target. All of this was possible with the timely efforts of the Transforming Rural India Foundation ANNUAL REPORT 2021-22
disaster management committee,made this opportunity a big success.
