Today, the world over, change is happening at a pace faster than the last 50
years. Population growth, urbanization, climate change and digitisation,
are 4 megatrends with transformative global influences that will impact
economies, business and societies. And, especially in a growing country
like ours, the pace of transformation and its impact will be higher for the
next 15-20 years.
As India expands to a USD 6 trillion economy by 2030, chemistry has the
potential to offer solutions to several of the country’s consumption
challenges. It is heartening to see that today, many of the Indian chemical
companies and multinational companies based in India are leveraging the
power of research, innovation and technology, to collaborate and co-
create solutions.
The chemical industry has the potential to responsibly accelerate the
achievements of the Government’s mission critical initiatives such as
Make in India, Digital India, Swachch Bharat, Housing for All, and Power
for All. Many of us from the sector have already partnered with the
Government to design solutions for these progressive initiatives.
India’s chemical sector is appreciative of the Government’s initiatives to
provide a facilitative environment. We look forward to a cohesive
approach towards the sector, to enable us to support India’s sustainable
and inclusive growth.
Unfortunately, not many are aware of the positive contributions that
chemistry makes to the planet. “Chemistry Everywhere: In Pursuit of
Sustainable Development” is our endeavor to communicate the many
positive aspects of chemistry.
We, in the industry, remain committed to building a sustainable world
through chemistry, while growing responsibly.
