Though India boasts of one of the largest education
systems in the world, Lower enrollments and
access to quality education remains a cause for
concern. Of the 229 million children enrolled in
Classes 1 to 12, only a small percentage have
access to quality teachers and advanced teaching
aids. Efforts are also afoot to increase the national
Gross Enrolment Ratio to 30% by 2020. Inspired
by our mentor, Dr K K Birla’s deep belief in
education’s transformative power, we partnered
the Government in addressing the country’s
education challenge.
Project Askshar follows a holistic “Pre-school to
Livelihood” concept. With a long term sustainable
approach aimed at molding self-reliant, responsible
youth, the project is building an ecosystem for
delivering quality education in rural India. Akshar’s
four pillars include building a robust education
infrastructure, providing adequate facilities,
integrating technology and improving pedagogy.
